The 20-year period from 1947 to 1967 was when the National Hockey League consisted of “the original six”: Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Montreal, New York and Toronto. The second half of that period has become known as hockey’s “Golden Era,” thanks to such spectacular players as Gordie Howe, Maurice “The Rocket” Richard, Terry Sawchuk, and Bobby Hull. Lifelong hockey fans can relive the stunning visuals of these paragons of their sport, complete with their wool jerseys, wooden sticks and bare heads. And newcomers to hockey can learn what is really meant by “pure old-time hockey.”
